Our mission is to establish partnerships with school districts, youth-centered organizations and youth in foster care for the purpose of ensuring that foster youth graduate from high school, postsecondary institutions and transition to rewarding careers, gainful employment and successful lives.
The Children Youth and Family Collaborative (CYFC) is an innovative and nationally recognized service provider for foster youth. Our programs are cutting edge and revolutionary with the ultimate goal of creating a culture where foster youth will no longer be synonymous with academic deficiencies, poor high school graduation rates and the need for being designated a sub- population will be eliminated. Yes, we are working our way out of business! Founded in 1993 with just one staff member, Advancement through Opportunity and Knowledge, Inc. dba Children Youth and Family Collaborative (CYFC), began with strong roots at one community based site serving 25 foster youth. Today, the agency provides programming in nine school districts with successful replication of it’s nationally recognized model in over 89 schools. With a staff of over 100, these programs serve approximately 2,500 foster youth with academic services, tutoring, academic remediation and intervention, mentoring, support services and special events. Founded in 1993 at Holman United Methodist Church, with just one staff member, Advancement through Opportunity and Knowledge, Inc. dba Children Youth and Family Collaborative (CYFC) began with strong roots at one community based site serving 25 foster youth.
