HOW IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE

Volunteers help students get the attention and help they need but may not be getting at school. In summer camp, we help encourage learning when students aren't in school, and help to build their confidence in their voice and stories. In other words, our volunteers help our students thrive in the classroom and beyond!

DESCRIPTION

826LA's ELL Summer Camp is a four-week creative writing camp for elementary-aged English Language Learners. You'll work in small groups with young students, assisting them with different camp activities, including writing stories and poems, learning about science and technology, going on nature walks, and more.

Camp runs from July 10-August 3, Mondays through Thursdays, and has a morning and afternoon session.

You don't need to come to every day of camp, or even every week, though it's the most fun and beneficial if you can make it a regular thing!

ITEMS NEEDED

In addition to the training, background check, and application explained below, you'll also need transportation to/from one of our tutoring centers in Mar Vista or Echo Park.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Volunteers must be ages 16 and up
