HOW IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE

With the TeleFriends program, we hope to alleviate the feeling of social isolation and create friendships that will extend beyond this crisis.

DESCRIPTION

During this COVID-19 crisis, MABVI is recruiting volunteers for consumer companionship. Due to the need for social distancing, we are unable to physically visit our consumers, however many consumers have expressed their interest in having a volunteer call and chat with them once a week. The program will connect a volunteer and consumer as TeleFriends. The volunteer will call and check in on the consumer, chat, and provide companionship via phone. 

ITEMS NEEDED


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Volunteers must be 18 or older or accompanied by an adult.
  • Potential volunteers must attend an orientation training, undergo a criminal record check (CORI) and may be interviewed.
  • Time commitment ranges from one to two hours per week to two hours every other week, with a minimum commitment of six months.
  • Typically, an on-going day/time is determined in advance to offer consistency.
