HOW IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE
Making Bandar and Bhaaloo (this means monkey and bear in Hindi) animals is the central focus of our work. By selling these unique animals, we generate funds that go directly to specific high schools in India that educate empoverished girls. Just $300 educates a girl for a year; selling just six animals can fund that girl.
DESCRIPTION
Bandar and Bhaaloo needs volunteers who have some skill with sewing and would love to put their talents to good use by creating whimsical one-of-a-kind stuffed animals. If you can provide the sewing machine, we will provide the materials (your selection of pattern - bear, monkey, elephant, bunny; fabric; stuffing; etc.). The fabrics we use are donated saris and other Indian clothing, usually silk or rayon, often with beautiful patterns and embellishments. It’s up to you to be creative, using the fabric in a way that gives each animal its unique personality. Bandar and Bhaaloo animals are not toys (although they are very irresistible); they are designed to be loved and admired.
