Guidelines
Cards can be store-bought or homemade, and can include homemade artwork, collages, pictures, poems, or messages. We encourage card makers to include messages such as “Dear Friend, we are thinking of you,” “Hope you are well” or “You are in our thoughts” but leave card makers a great deal of flexibility in the message they would like to share.
HOW IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE
Cards have created smiles, memories, moments, and connections, especially during this pandemic. Since April, a card-making initiative that started as a way for people of all ages to participate in connecting with others has been going strong. To date, more than 1,600 cards have been delivered to isolated older adults through 3 FriendshipWorks' programs! And, we continue to receive requests for cards and welcomes new ones!
Friends: your beautiful cards (homemade/semi-home/thoughtfully purchased) have reached hundreds of older adults since April. To date, more than 900 cards have been distributed to area nursing homes, senior residences & individuals – THANK YOU! Keeping social connection & sharing positive messages during this prolonged period of social distancing remains essential. If you would like to participate in this ongoing card-making initiative, we welcome cards with pet, music, nature & holiday themes. For message guidelines & to organize a Card-Making drive, please contact Carolina at cmartinez@fw4elders.org
