'Housewarming Baskets with Essentials' Drive

HOW IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE

Individuals and families coming out of homelessness have little or nothing to get started in a new apartment. That first trip to the store to buy basic essentials can be very expensive. Clients really appreciate a plastic laundry basket filled with practical everyday living items.

DESCRIPTION

Hold a drive for household essentials and fill laundry baskets with things like:

Trash bags, cleaning supplies, paper products, laundry detergent, shower curtain liners, scissors, broom and dust bin, small plastic cutting board and a can opener.

Assemble these items into the basket and deliver to New Life Furniture Bank of MA for a tour and talk.

    • Dustpan & Brush
    • Household Cleaner
    • Laundry Detergent
    • Paper Towels
    • Scissors
    • Shower Curtain Liner & Rings
    • Small Cutting Board
    • Small Flashlight
    • Sponges/Scrubbers
    • Tall Kitchen Trash Bags
    • Tissues
    • Toilet Brush
    • Toilet Paper

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

This activity is appropriate for grammar school students through adults. It is a great group activity!

Completed Housewarming baskets should be delivered at the Donation Center on a predetermined date/time.

1.Contact Amanda Wolfe, Volunteer Coordinator, at amanda@newlifefb.org if interested in organizing a drive for the items listed below and putting together baskets.

2. Hold a drive for the essential household items. Items needed include: 

    • Bar of Soap

    • Dustpan & Brush
    • Household Cleaner
    • Laundry Detergent
    • Paper Towels
    • Scissors
    • Shower Curtain Liner & Rings
    • Small Cutting Board
    • Small Flashlight

    • Toilet Paper

Note: All items must be new.

3. After you have collected items, meet in a central location where baskets can be assembled. 

4. Fill laundry baskets with the items listed. One basket will be given per household. 

5. Arrange for basket drop off, tour and information session by contacting amanda@newlifefb.org.
