Ready to Help Other Kids?

Educational Kits for Kids

30-60 Minutes

This can be done in your home, school, camp, place of worship, etc. Anywhere!

Throughout the year

Help us keep the Sunday Friends kids engaged during the pandemic. Create fun, educational take-home STEM kits that will be distributed at our drive-thru!

Sunday Friends empowers families to break the generational cycle of poverty by fostering positive development in children while educating and guiding parents to support their children's life success.

It is exhausting for children to stare at computer/TV/phone screens all day during quarantine. It is also challenging for parents to keep their children occupied while they juggle other duties. Help us keep the Sunday Friends kids engaged with some fun, educational take-home kits!

Signing up for this posting (this date) does not mean that you have to drop off the completed kits the same week. Work on this project at your leisure and then drop the kits off during any future week!

  1. Complete the New Volunteer Registration Form - click here!
  2. Carefully review the step-by-step guide provided!
  3. Have fun!

Sound like fun?VIEW INSTRUCTIONS to get started.

STEP 1: Decide on one or more of the projects below.

STEP 2: If you have not done so already, have all participants (including children) create individual accounts on the new Sunday Friends Volunteer Hub portal: If your child is a minor and does not have an email/phone, please input the parent/guardian’s email/phone.

STEP 3: Have all participants sign up for any one of the “Create Educational Kits for Kids” postings. There is only one per week. It does not matter which date you sign up for since this is an ongoing project. This is just for our records.

STEP 4: Purchase supplies and assemble the kits according to the instructions.

STEP 5: Fill out this donation form.

STEP 6: Email with the following:

1) How many kits you are donating

2) What kits you are donating (e.g., “Coloring Mixing Spinning Tops”)

3) Your completed donation form (or print it and bring it with you)

4) Date and approximate time of drop-off

STEP 7: Drop off completed kits and donation sheet during any upcoming week:

Any Sunday, 9:30am-1:00pm, 645 Wool Creek Drive; Enter parking lot, avoid the drive-thru line by driving on the right side of the first row of covered parking. Drive to the end of the lot. Ask for Rubby or Diana at the front. If you arrive between 9:30-10:30am and no one is out front, call Diana at (408) 600-2289 Tip: Avoid the rush by arriving between 12:00pm-1:00pm. We are closed September 6th for Labor day.

STEP 8: After the date for the posting you signed up for passes, have all participants self-report their hours on Volunteer Hub (click your name on the upper right ? “View Hours” ? “Report Hours”). Staff will approve them. This is important for our records.
