HOW IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE
BINA Farm Center brings together individuals with and without special needs by offering a variety of inclusive enrichment programs that help them to both thrive personally and make their best contribution towards the communities in which they live. BINA provides a comprehensive therapeutic and recreational environment utilizing Equine-Assisted Services and Therapies, Vocational Training Programs and Creative and Complementary Therapies for children and adults with physical, developmental and emotional challenges. Some participants are not yet prepared to ride a horse without someone directly guiding the horse where to go, so Leaders support the participants in this way in the meantime.
The volunteer will lead horses during mounted riding lessons for therapeutic and/or recreational riding lessons. Involvement in our occupational and physical therapies may also occur based on experience, training level and availability.
Horse Leaders must be able to walk/jog throughout 30 minutes at a time. Closed-toe shoes and weather appropriate clothing required.
All Volunteers must attend one of our monthly Volunteer orientations, Sidewalker training, and Leader training
To Volunteer in lessons, BINA Volunteers must be 14 years or older and able to work independently.
